About the Owner
Vickie Hart-Zwart is a seasoned pet professional whose influence in the grooming industry spans nearly four decades. She first entered the world of grooming in 1985 and attended her first grooming show in 1986. From that moment on, she immersed herself in the industry, developing a rich career filled with leadership, education, innovation, and a deep commitment to animal care.
For over 24 years, Vickie owned and operated Heritage Pet in Colorado, a well-rounded pet care business that provided grooming, boarding, doggie daycare, and training. Under her direction, Heritage Pet became a standout facility, recognized both locally and nationally. It was featured on the cover of Sam Kohl’s The Business Guide to Pet Grooming and won the prestigious “Nicest Grooming Salon in America” award from Groom and Board Magazine. Heritage Pet became not only a grooming destination but a model of excellence in the pet care industry.
In 2019, Vickie stepped into a national leadership role, serving as Director of Grooming for a company with over 175 locations in 31 states. Her responsibilities included operational oversight, grooming education, business strategy, and developing grooming teams across the country. Her influence helped shape grooming programs on a national scale and elevated the standards of care and professionalism within the organization.
Currently, Vickie operates a successful and upscale mobile grooming business in the South Metro Denver area, where she continues to provide personalized and premium grooming services.
Her entrepreneurial spirit doesn’t stop there—she also owns a bandanna company, combining creativity and style for pets, and she represents a Canadian pet dental company as a sales representative, advocating for better oral health in pets. As a member of the instructional staff at The Whole Pet Grooming Academy, Vickie brings her vast industry knowledge to students, helping to mentor and train the next generation of pet groomers. Her commitment to education is rooted in her own journey and her passion for continuous learning.Vickie has bred, owned, and shown English Cocker Spaniels for over 35 years. Her dogs have won top honors in the show ring, including the title of #1 Breeder, Owner & Amateur Handled Dog in the Country. She has also exhibited and judged at AKC dog shows, and her dogs have been featured in various films and television projects. Her deep knowledge of breed standards and grooming techniques is matched by her love for the breed.
Her career has taken her far beyond the grooming table. Vickie has worked as an international business consultant, sharing her expertise in Japan and Europe. Her passion for both pets and business has allowed her to bridge cultural gaps and elevate the grooming industry on a global level.
When she’s not grooming or consulting, Vickie is often traveling the world—frequently accompanied by her service dog, Flint. She also owns two real estate companies and regularly visits the Netherlands, where she enjoys reconnecting with family, friends, and her Dutch roots. At home in Colorado, she lives with her beloved dogs, horses, and a few wild deer, embracing a life that blends entrepreneurship, animal care, and adventure.
